Tens of thousands still without power; schools in several districts remain closed

SALT LAKE CITY — More than 94,000 Rocky Mountain Power customers still don't have electricity and schools in several districts remain closed Wednesday after Tuesday's down slope wind event.

"Restoration efforts continue around the clock. Customers without service should prepare to be without power through the night and into Thursday," a message on RMP's website said.

SCHOOL CLOSURES

  • Canyons School District - Classes canceled at Albion Middle School, Brookwood Elementary School and Quail Hollow Elementary School
  • Davis School District - All schools closed for the day.
  • Granite School District - Classes canceled at the following schools:
    • Bonneville Junior High School
    • Connections High School
    • Cottonwood Elementary School
    • Crestview Elementary School
    • Eastwood Elementary School
    • Farnsworth Elementary School
    • Rosecrest Elementary School
    • Spring Lane Elementary School
    • Upland Terrace Elementary School
    • Wasatch Junior High School
    • William Penn Elementary School
  • Ogden School District - All schools and online classes closed for the day.
  • Salt Lake City School District - All schools closed for the day.
  • Weber School District - All schools closed for the day.
  • Weber State University - All classes canceled for the day.

Despite the school closures, the Salt Lake City School District will still offer meals for students at the following locations between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.:

  • Backman Elementary
  • Clayton Middle
  • East High School
  • Edison Elementary
  • Escalante Elementary
  • Liberty Elementary
  • M. Lynn Bennion Elementary
  • Meadowlark Elementary
  • Nibley Park School
  • Northwest Middle School
  • Rose Park Elementary
  • West High School
  • Whittier Elementary
