SWEETWATER COUNTY, Wyoming — Multiple agencies responded to a freight train fire Saturday afternoon near Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Just before 3 p.m., an estimated 26 Union Pacific train cars derailed about four miles east of Rock Springs. Photos and videos of the scene appeared to show multiple rail cars fallen over onto their side. Some then caught fire.
According to Union Pacific, about 10 were damaged.
No one was injured.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation. Union Pacific told FOX 13 that the train was hauling mixed freight, including alcohol, which may have contributed to or been involved in the fire.
