One person has been arrested for the shooting and killing of 28-year-old Emilio Salazar that took place early Saturday morning.

Alex Christopher Mendoza Jr., 19, was taken into custody late Saturday on suspicion of murder, a first-degree felony. He also faces charges of three additional first-degree felonies for discharging a firearm in the direction of people.

The shooting happened just before 2:00 a.m. on Saturday. According to a probable cause statement, arriving officers located a male victim who was bleeding from the head.

That victim was transported to a local hospital in extremely critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives recovered three shell casings and interviewed witnesses on the scene. After more than four hours, authorities were given the name "Baby Alex" as the shooter.

Mendoza was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident. After being read his Miranda Rights, he declined to speak with detectives and was booked on the aforementioned felony charges.
