WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — West Valley City firefighters are facing long nights and extreme heat as they battle wildfires in northern California.
They're part of crews from several Utah fire agencies that deployed to northern California on Aug. 22.
The department posted on its Facebook page that their 24 hour shifts consist of hiking, extending progressive hose lines, fighting fire from their truck and sometimes fighting fire with fire.
The post ended with, "Keep safe out there! We are all thinking of you!"
