PARK CITY, Utah — A 24-year old man has been arrested for failing to remain on scene after a fatal auto-pedestrian accident.

According to a probable cause statement, the driver was identified as Nicholas Westland.

On Thursday, Westland allegedly hit a 42-year-old man with a work van.

According to Captain Phil Kirk with PCPD, the victim was waiting beside the road at a bus stop near 1482 Empire Avenue when a van traveling northbound struck him.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken by ambulance to the University of Utah Hospital, but later died from his injuries.

Officers found and detained Westland after making contact with his employer, Black Tie Ski Rental.

They determined the work vehicle Westland had been driving was the vehicle involved in the accident, based on the damage to the van.

Westland was questioned and a blood draw was taken before he was transported to the Summit County Jail without incident.
