NORTH OGDEN, Utah — Evacuations have been ordered as a new fire is threatening homes in the North Ogden area in Weber County on Wednesday.

The Willard Peak Fire, which was sparked from a vehicle fire, is currently 50-75 acres, and 15-20 structures are threatened.

Everyone other than fire personnel is asked to avoid the area.

Evacuations have now been ordered for everyone in the area east of 1050 East and north of 3300 North. People are being advised to use caution when evacuating. The American Red Cross has opened an evacuation shelter that is receiving evacuees at 626 East 2600 North in Ogden.

As of 4 p.m., over 30,000 residents are without power in the area, according to Rocky Mountain Power, due to the company having to de-energize the lines. The company says it has crews on the scene to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

Ground crews from several fire departments are responding, and helicopters and air tankers have been dropping water and fire retardant.
