SALT LAKE CITY — A man is dead after being shot in the head Saturday afternoon in Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City Police Department confirmed Wednesday that Ghorke Gwen, 20, passed away from his injuries.

Gwen was in the hospital in critical condition after being shot in the head at Solara Apartments, near 900 West and 700 North.

According to a probable cause statement, Saturday afternoon officers responded to a call of a shooting and found Gwen with a gunshot wound to the head and one casing on the ground.

The suspect in the shooting has since been arrested and identified as 18-year-old Esequiel David Torres. Police believe the shooting may have been related to complications from a drug deal.

Also stated in the probable cause statement, Torres was reported to have robbed and fired shots at two people less than an hour before the incident at Solara.
