SALT LAKE CITY — Long-time PGA Tour golfer Daniel Summerhays made a big announcement this week. He will retire from professional golf after playing one more event this week at the Utah Championship at Oakridge Country Club.

"It's been emotional and it's been thought provoking," said Summerhays. You question if this is the right step, but I feel like this the right step for me and my family, and my personal growth. I'm really excited for the next phase of my life."

Daniel will be the new golf coach at Davis High School, his old school, and he'll also be a full time teacher. After spending the last 13-plus years traveling around the world to play golf, he is ready to spend time at home with his family.

"I'm really grateful for the last 13-14 years on tour, but I'm really grateful that I have this opportunity to move forward in a different direction."
