LOGAN, Utah -- It wasn't exactly what Utah State had in mind for their first home football game of the season.

The Aggies lost 7-38 to the San Diego State Aztecs Saturday night at Maverik Stadium in Logan.

The highlight for Utah State was their lone scoring drive: A 37-yard pass from starting quarterback Jason Shelley to wide receiver Deven Thompkins as time expired in the first half.

The Aggies had no field goal attempts. Shelley threw one interception, as did QB Andrew Peasley who replaced Shelley in the fourth quarter. They also had one turnover due to a fumble late in the fourth quarter by running back John Gentry.

The Aztec offense dominated the Aggie defense with three rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns and one field goal.

USU lost their season opener last week 13-42 at Boise State. Their next game is on Thanksgiving Day at University of Nevada, Reno.
