SALT LAKE CITY — The NBA has announced the schedule for resuming the 2019-20 season, and the Utah Jazz are kicking it off.
The Jazz will face the New Orleans Pelicans July 30 at 4:30 p.m. (MDT) in the first NBA game since March. The season was suspended March 11 after Jazz star center Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19, followed by several other players around the league.
The season is set to continue at Walt Disney World's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex from July 30 through mid-October. No fans will be in attendance.
The top eight teams in each conference were invited to play a series of "seeding" games through mid-August that will determine the playoff rankings. Six additional teams will also compete — those that are currently within six games of the eighth seed in either conference. Each team will play eight games to determine seeding.
After the Jazz play their first game against the Pelicans, they will face:
- Oklahoma City Thunder, Aug. 1
- Los Angeles Lakers, Aug. 3
- Memphis Grizzlies, Aug. 5
- San Antonio Spurs, Aug. 7
- Denver Nuggets, Aug. 8
- Dallas Mavericks, Aug. 10
- San Antonio Spurs, Aug. 13
