(CNN)– A kid with a football caught the attention of a police officer in Rosenberg, Texas.
Sergeant Ariel Soltura said he noticed the boy by himself, tossing a football up and down in his hands.
Soltura had just finished a traffic stop, and he decided to stop for a bit and play “some toss.” The officer says he didn’t want to be intrusive, so he left after tossing the ball back and forth a few times.
He said he’s done this kind of thing before — just trying to engage kids in the community, whether they’re playing with a football, riding bikes, or skateboarding.
Soltura said it helps officers appear more human and encourages co-operation with the public.
