Report: Sundance Film Festival brings big money to Utah

PARK CITY, Utah– According to a press release from the Sundance Institute, the 2014 Sundance Film Festival generated an overall economic impact of $86.4 million for the State of Utah. This research was conducted by the University of Utah’s Bureau of Economic and Business Research at the David Eccles School of Business.

The release states the festival also:
-Supported over 1,434 jobs
-Generated over $65.1 million in international media exposure
-Provided nearly $6.9 million in tax revenue
-Was attended by more than 45,300 people

The research found many people came from all over to visit the Beehive State. Almost 70% attendees traveled from out-of-state (including more than 3,500 international visitors). Almost a third of those who attended said will visit Utah again sometime in the next year.
