2 young men killed in overnight Magna shooting

MAGNA, Utah — Two men, ages 18 and 19, were killed in a shooting early Sunday morning in Magna.

According to Unified Police, officers and medical personnel responded to reports of three people shot around 1 a.m. at a house party near 3600 South and 8600 West.

A girl under the age of 18 survived and is in fair condition, according to Unified Police.

Two men — later identified as 19-year-old Juan Valentine Rodriguez and 18-year-old Ivan Valenzuela — died from gunshot wounds.

One of the victims was declared dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead there.

An investigation is underway, and police said they interviewed possible witnesses at the party and obtained a search warrant to collect evidence.

They are still working to determine who the shooter was and why it happened.
