TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — A 2-year-old girl died after being hit by a car Tuesday afternoon in Taylorsville.

According to Sgt. Melody Gray with Unified Police, the vehicle was traveling north on 3200 West around 2:45 p.m. when a dog ran into the road near 5000 South. The driver braked to avoid hitting the dog, but was then rear-ended by another vehicle, sending the first car into a mother pushing a stroller with 2-year-old twins on the sidewalk.

One of the girls died from her injuries, while the other was flown by a medical helicopter to Primary Children's Hospital in extremely critical condition. The mother was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
