HOLLADAY, Utah — A man is in critical condition after an officer-involved shooting in Holladay.
According to Unified Police, officers responded to reports of a suicidal man armed with a handgun at a parking structure near 3200 East and 6200 South shortly after noon on Saturday.
Officers negotiated with the man for about 30 minutes before the shooting occurred. Police did not release what occurred between the negotiations and the shooting, how many shots were fired, nor by whom.
The 39-year-old man, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. No officers were injured.
A team of investigators from police departments in Salt Lake County, not including Unified, will conduct the protocol officer-involved critical incident investigation before sending the results to the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office for review.
UPD says several officers at the scene were wearing activated body cameras.
