LAYTON, Utah — Officials have confirmed that a motorcyclist died after a crash during The Fire Ride Saturday morning.

A 52-year-old was participating in The Fire Ride, an annual firefighter memorial that begins at Sandy and ends in Ogden.

At 11:17 a.m., while traveling US-89, the motorcyclist became involved in a chain-reaction crash with two other motorcycles near Gordon Lane. The victim, from Tooele County, died en route to the hospital.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
