WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — West Valley City police arrested a man on multiple charges after he disrupted a Black Lives Matter gathering Wednesday by spraying pepper spray at protesters.

Randall Schroerlucke, 44, was charged with four counts of assault and one count of disorderly conduct Thursday.

Police say Schroerlucke also brandished a gun during the altercation which occurred when counter-protesters confronted those with Black Lives Matter outside the police building.

During a brief scuffle, video on Twitter appeared to show Schroerlucke spraying members of the Black Lives Matters group. Schroerlucke also pulled a gun during the melee

One of the original protesters required medical attention after he was sprayed by Schroerlucke, who was representing the Utah Citizens Alarm and Civilized Awakening groups.

According to the police report, both sides gave differing versions of what happened during the fight, but they found enough to charge Schroerlucke and could add more charges upon further investigation.
