OREM, Utah — Northbound Interstate 15 will be completely closed Saturday night until Sunday morning for construction.
According to the Utah Department of Transportation, all northbound traffic will be diverted off the freeway at University Parkway, then back on at Geneva Road and Center Street. The closure is expected to begin at 10:30 p.m. and will reopen Sunday at 10 a.m.
The closure will allow crews to work on placing beams for a new pedestrian bridge near Utah Valley University.
The bridge, which is scheduled to open later this year, is a $30.7 million project with UDOT, UVU and the Utah Transit Authority. It will provide a walking route to the university's main campus from from housing, the Orem Intermodal Center and the western campus. UDOT says it will be the longest pedestrian bridge in the state of Utah.
