WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Police have released the names of a man who was shot and killed Friday morning and the suspected shooter who later shot and killed himself.

According to West Valley City Police, 40-year-old Jeremy Reed Harris shot a man and a woman around 6:20 a.m. near 3600 S. Deann Drive, killing one man and wounding a woman.

Police say the woman, who is expected to survive after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, was Harris' ex-wife. The man who police say Harris fatally shot was the woman's boyfriend, 40-year-old Nathan Edgar Brower.

About an hour after the initial shooting, police received a report of an armed man lying in a shower at a home near 3800 Hawkeye. The home and its residents have no known connection to the suspect.

"Resident safely left home & officers set up containment. Officers used a robot, then gas to determine suspect was not moving. Officers entered, found man deceased from self inflicted gunshot wound," a tweet from WVCPD said.

The suspect and the woman have two children, ages 5 and 10, and police said both children were in the home at the time of the shooting. Those children are now in the care of family members.
