ST. GEORGE, Utah — A 44-year-old man has been arrested in St. George after police say he was caught with child sexual abuse material, drugs, and guns.
Michael Allen Miller was arrested on Wednesday and faces 10 charges of sexual exploitation of a minor, 16 charges of prohibited dangerous weapon conduct, and obstruction of justice, among others.
According to court documents, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip from Google on January 31 concerning child sexual abuse material that had been uploaded to a Google account. Through that tip, investigators were able to determine where the files had been uploaded.
On Wednesday, at around 6:00 a.m., a search warrant was served at Miller's residence. Police say a woman answered the door and notified Miller of the police at the door.
At that point, police say Miller threw his cellphone out of his home before meeting police. He later admitted to doing this to avoid the police finding it. According to police, multiple child sexual abuse material files were found on the phone.
During a search of the home, multiple items of drug paraphernalia were found, as well as marijuana. Inside Miller's room, police found a gun safe with 9 pistols and 8 rifles.
