WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A Kearns woman has been arrested for murder after a body with a stab wound was found on a West Valley City neighborhood sidewalk on Thursday.
Fabiola Lara, 39 of Kearns, was the girlfriend of the victim, 45-year-old Jose Humberto.
According to the West Valley City Police Department, a neighbor was walking near 3900 South and 4500 West when they found the body at approximately 7:30 a.m. Court documents in the case reveal that investigators followed the blood trail to the home where the alleged stabbing took place.
Alvarado and Lara had been to a party at Atlas Way together, when at 1:30 a.m. police responded to the home after Alvarado was caught taking the leggings off of Lara's 11-year-old female relative. Officers responded to investigate but Alvarado had fled the area.
Investigators found that prior to Alvarado leaving, Lara and Alvarado had a confrontation in front of the home when it is suspected that Lara stabbed Alvarado.
Alvarado left on foot, where he ultimately died from his injuries on Thayn Drive. Detectives note in court documents that home surveillance captured the stabbing and the victim leaving the home.
Sylvia Feleti and her family have lived in that neighborhood for about 20 years, but they woke up to something they hadn’t see before, and did not know anything about.
Alvarado’s body was found right outside their home, by their fence.
"They just told us it was on the side of our fence, there was a body. That was about it. They asked if we have any cameras that they can view, but we don’t have any cameras, we never felt like we had to have cameras, because nothing has ever happened,” Feleti said. "It was crazy. You see a lot of things happening on the news, but you never think that it would so close to home."
