WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — West Valley City Police Department has identified the victim of Wednesday's Wakefield shooting as 20-year-old Manuel Andres Martinez.

Thursday evening, officers were dispatched to the 6400 block of South Wakefield Way. Upon arrrival, officers discovered a deceased male laying in the middle of an intersection with a gunshot wound. Officers attempted CPR but were unsuccessful in saving the 20-year-old male.
According to Deputy Chief Kent Stoke, reports came in that another vehicle may have been involved and dumped the body in the street.
Debbie Graves has lived in the area for four years and is shocked that this could happen in her neighborhood.
“Overwhelmed actually. its scary that this would happen in your neighborhood which we thought was quiet," Graves said.
