TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — The Hastings Fire in Tooele County that initially grew rapidly by thousands of acres is starting to get under control.

The fire was started early Saturday and is burning east of Aragonite and south of Interstate 80.

As of Tuesday night, officials said it was 26,422 acres and 25 percent contained.

"Firing operations accomplished the objective to complete the box and most resources have been released from the incident. One engine and one water tender will remain overnight to monitor spots with active flames. Mopping up will continue tomorrow," Utah Fire Info wrote.

No structures are threatened, but no recreational activities are allowed near due to the erratic behavior of the fire.

Fire crews are working to contain it on the ground, as well as from the air using tankers and helicopters.
