VERNON, Utah — The Stookey Fire burning in the mountains west of Vernon has grown to approximately 10,256 acres as of 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Utah Fire Info also moved communities along the East side of the fire to 'READY' status.
Officials have also determined the fire was started by natural causes.
That means residents should be prepared to evacuate due to the wildfire, but it is not an evacuation order.
Multiple federal, state and local agencies responded to the wildfire after its start late Friday.

Officials say that overnight winds pushed the fire to the north and northwest, and that limited accessibility continues to cause challenges for firefighters. However, ground crews are securing containment lines along the west ridgeline.
