Timp Fire in American Fork Canyon fully contained; Some areas still closed

UTAH COUNTY, Utah — A wildfire in American Fork Canyon near Timpooneke Campground is now fully contained, and some sites in the canyon have been re-opened.

The Timp Fire was first reported at 11:09 p.m. on Thursday and only burned two acres.

The Timpooneke Campground was evacuated due to the wildfire, and the Tibble Fork Reservoir was closed to bring in helicopters for water.

Saturday afternoon, Utah Fire Info reported that the fire was fully contained.

Tibble Fork Reservoir is back open. However, Timpooneke Campground and trailhead will remain closed until Sunday. Campers with reservations will be allowed back "after mid-day," Utah Fire Info said.

Timpooneke Road is closed to through traffic at the Alpine Loop Junction until Sunday night.
