ST. GEORGE, Utah — Utah Highway Patrol responded to a deadly crash involving a tow truck, which closed down one on-ramp onto northbound I-15 for several hours on Monday. The name of the victim hasn't been released by officials.
According to Utah Highway Patrol, the crash is blocked exit ramp 4, the on-ramp for Brigham Road. The crash happened at around 6:51 a.m.
Troopers say a single vehicle, a truck that was hauling construction supplies, was going northbound on I-15 when it drove off the roadway and onto the soft shoulder in a curve. Why the truck went off the road isn't clear.
As the truck navigated on the shoulder, troopers say it continued driving towards the Brigham Road on-ramp. That ramp sits at a lower elevation than the shoulder that the truck was driving on.
When the truck went off the shoulder and onto the ramp, troopers say the vehicle rolled over the dirt gore area, crushing the cab of the truck.
The crash is under investigation.
