RICHMOND, Utah — Mother Nature caused some havoc with the spectacular lightning show she put on over much of northern Utah on Sunday evening.

While on US-91 in Richmond during the storm, Nicole Erickson caught on camera an incredible lightning strike that hit directly in front of her.

"What the actual... freak!" Erickson could be heard saying.

A short time later, Erickson came face-to-face with the damage that the strike actually caused, in the form of a fire that spread instantly.

The Smithfield Fire Department said the lightning bolt struck a power pole, which then sparked the fire directly across from Pepperidge Farm. The fire grew to about a quarter of an acre before it was quickly extinguished.

No damage or injuries were reported with either the lightning strike or the ensuing fire.
