UTAH COUNTY — Firefighters are responding to two wildfires that broke out Sunday in Utah County.
The Big Mountain Fire is burning about five miles southwest of Elberta, west of Tunnel Road.
It was estimated at 166 acres as of Sunday night, according to Utah Fire Info.
Later in the evening, officials announced the start of the Loafer Mountain Fire, burning in a remote area of Spanish Fork Canyon, south of Highway 6 and Highway 89.
Utah Fire Info said there are "Values at risk" to the west of the fire, but did not specify what those may be. It was estimated at two acres. Officials said smokejumpers were sent in and have been working to make a containment line.
