GARLAND, Utah — Evacuations have been ordered after a house fire spread to outlying areas near Garland on Friday afternoon, forcing both directions of Interstate 15 to be closed.

The Harley Fire has burned an estimated 75 acres north of Tremonton and west of Garland along I-15, which is now closed to all traffic at 1000 North.

The Garland Fire Department said all residents on Harley Drive must evacuate immediately, and that those on Radio Hill are on "READY" status and should be prepared to evacuate if necessary.

In addition to homes, Utah Fire Info said critical infrastructure, including power lines, roadways and water systems, are threatened by the fire, which is being spurred by hot, dry and windy conditions.

The fire is the third to spark in Box Elder County over the past 24 hours. The Little Mountain Fire burned up to 600 acres on Thursday, with crews getting a quick handle on its containment, while the Salt Wells Fire started early Friday and has burned 585 acres.
