IRON COUNTY, Utah — A new wildfire broke out Saturday afternoon near Cedar City.
The Eight Mile Fire was estimated at 60 acres as of Sunday afternoon. It's burning about 10 miles west of Cedar City, according to Utah Fire Info.
Firefighters are working to contain the blaze with ground crews and aerial resources.
Utah Fire Info said Sunday that the blaze "moderated thanks to local conditions and targeted retardant drops along the fire's perimeter. Though some residual heat and smoke remain, ground and helicopter crews are actively mopping up and securing control lines today."
The wildfire was caused by lightning.
