SALT LAKE CITY — Now that Utah's NHL team finally has a new, permanent name, we still have a few lingering questions.

Well... just one.

The team is the Mammoth, but what should be the name of the team's new mascot?

FOX 13 News went to Delta Center plaza to ask fans for their ideas, and here's your chance to share your thoughts and vote for a favorite below:

Here are some of the most popular names so far:

  • Woolly
  • Tuskee
  • Manny
  • Clubber
  • Bully

There were others shared by fans that didn't make it on the poll.
“I chose Slappy," one fan said.

“Melvin, Melvin the mammoth," said another. “He can be professional whenever he needs to be, but he could also have a good time. Melvin sounds like someone who can have a good time.”

“What’s a good name for a mammoth? Hockey Chuck?” a third fan pitched.

There were a lot of creative options, but a fan favorite from our count was Clubber.

“It ties it back in with the Utah Hockey Club, and I think they’ve been really intentional about letting us keep our current identity while also building a new one," another fan said.

The team’s identity was in the hands of the fans once before. So, will it happen again this time?

“I’ll leave that up to the group," co-owner and team governor Ryan Smith said. "There's a lot of fun ideas around what we’re going to call the mascot and how it’s all gonna go. There’s a little bit left.”
